The new Law on Prevention and Control of Atmospheric Pollution will be put into enforcement on 1 Jan. 2016, which provides specific rules on major sources of air pollution such as coal combustion, industries, motor vehicles, etc. China's Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) holds that with the earlier enforcement of oil standards and earlier supply of China V gasoline and diesel, it is now appropriate to put the China V standards of automotive vehicle emission into earlier enforcement throughout the country. Currently, MEP highly focuses on formulation of China VI vehicle emission standards, and plans to complete scripts of ideas-soliciting for the standard draft version by the first half of 2016, and conducts administrative review in 2016. In accordance with the current requirements of environmental protection, China VI standards will further tighten the emission limits of NOx and particulates, and the overall goal is to tighten by 30% on the bases of China V standards. Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau has announced that Beijing VI standards will be conducted in 2016. Against such a tough backdrop, OEMs, transmission and engine manufacturers, as well as emission control technologies companies shall enhance both the R&D and innovation input of energy saving and emission reducing technologies as well as the practical applications, so as to be prepared for a stricter emission regulation in advance.
